Description Martin Fluegge CLA 2011-07-29 02:26:37 EDT
Dawn should provide a web suite which integrates all extended frameworks and editor type (like, GMF, Graphiti, EMF...). This suite should provide the same functionality the Eclipse site of Dawn offers. This means, conflicting, locking, access control and so on.

It's not entirely clear to me what this means. What's a "web suite"?

You could also name it portal or something like this. What I have in mind is the complete extension of collaborative UI to the Web. This means:

- creation wizards
- browsing and direct access to the model (something like the Dawn Explorer)
- web-based manipulation of the model using the same editor as in Eclipse (tree-based, graphical, maybe textual)
- certainly the whole conflicting, access control stuff

In the end a user should be able to generate all this (resulting in a warchive) for a given model.

If i take all these features (core UI, web-based editor extension, generator) together, I call this a "Web Suite".

Hope this makes it clearer now ;)

What about "[Dawn] Develop WebApp Generator" then?

Hmm, this sounds a bit too less for what it means, because it implies that this bugzilla is only about providing a generator. But the generator will only be a part of it and users will certainly be able to programm the extensions or customize them.

If you do not like the word suite, whtat about:

"Develop web-based portal for collaborative modeling" ?

I like "portal" even less because it seems to imply an end solution with a fixed set of features. What about "Extend Dawn to the web"?

Really? If I think of the wort portal, I have the complete opposite in mind. In the context of web-based appication a portal was always something quite flexible and customizable. Actually just an entry point to a set of features or applications.

> What about "Extend Dawn to the web"?

I could live with that, though I prefer "portal" or "suite" ;)

Moving all open issues to 4.2. Open bugs can be ported to 4.1 maintenance after they've been fixed in master.
