Description Andrei CLA 2011-07-22 05:58:57 EDT
I completed a proxy bypass list, but when i try to connect to databases in "Database Connections" i get failed results.
Although i put IPs of databases in a proxy bypass list, Eclipse uses a proxyserver for connecting to this IPs.
When i use direct or native active providers it works normally.

Hi, Andrei. Somehow this bug ended up assigned to the "JDT" (Java Development Tools) product, "APT" (Annotation Processing tooling) component. I don't have any idea what you're talking about, so probably the bug was intended for a different product and component? Can you try to recategorize it more appropriately? Thanks.

Hi, Walter. In my message i mean the last version of "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers". It seemed to me that "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers" is a "JDT" product.

I understand the confusion. Let me try to explain.

The various packagings of Eclipse, such as "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers", are just different combinations of Eclipse plugins. The plugins are, in turn, organized into subcomponents and products. For instance, the org.eclipse.jdt.apt.core plugin belongs to the APT subcomponent of the JDT product. Different products are developed by different teams of people, often working for entirely different companies in different parts of the world.

So, "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers" does include the JDT product. But it also includes WTP (the Web Tooling Platform) and a bunch of other ones that I don't even know, most of which are built on top of the JDT functionality, in the sense that they depend on JDT interfaces but JDT does not depend on them.

The JDT product is concerned only with Java development - that is, plain old Java, not J2EE. I don't know what a proxy bypass list is, but it sounds like something to do with either the Web Tooling Platform (WTP) or maybe the Database Tooling Platform (DTP).

Thank you for your explanation. But how can i recognize what plugin makes this bug?
Comment 6 Walter Harley CLA 2011-07-28 12:58:10 EDT
That's the hard part :-) But you don't have to figure out which plugin; just which product area it's most likely from. If I had an idea of what a proxy bypass list was, I'd do it for you, but I'm not familiar with that term.

I'm going to guess that since the issue has to do with connecting to databases, this functionality is contributed by the Data Tools product? I'll reassign accordingly, and let that group continue the discussion.
