Description Kevin Sawicki CLA 2011-07-19 20:50:02 EDT
Add support for obtaining an OAuth2 access token and using it as the
credentials for a task repository.
Comment 1 Kevin Sawicki CLA 2011-07-19 20:51:04 EDT
I created a simple initial implementation that uses an Eclipse browser in a dialog to walk
the user through authenticating and allowing access using OAuth2: https://github.com/kevinsawicki/eclipse-oauth2
Comment 2 Steffen Pingel CLA 2011-07-20 16:24:26 EDT
That sounds very interesting. I have added the proposal to next weeks' meeting agenda: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Mylyn/Meetings#July_29.2C_10-11am_PT
Comment 3 Steffen Pingel CLA 2011-07-28 13:37:22 EDT
Unfortunately, we didn't get around to discussing this and I'll be away next week. I have added it to the agenda in two weeks.
Comment 4 Shawn Minto CLA 2011-08-11 13:11:11 EDT
I think that this would be useful in the framework as task repositories are going to start using OAuth and other services (i.e. Twitter) use OAuth.
Comment 5 Steffen Pingel CLA 2011-08-11 13:31:55 EDT
I agree. While we don't have a reference implementation that requires it right now this is likely to become a priority in the future. Kevin, how far along is the implementation on github?
Comment 6 Kevin Sawicki CLA 2011-08-11 14:18:08 EDT
The project I created supports OAuth2 and handles opening a browser and getting the token if the user authorizes it, it does not use Apache Amber which might be another consideration since that is a more robust OAuth library than the small subset I added just to get things working.

Comment 7 Kevin Sawicki CLA 2011-08-11 20:31:03 EDT
Looking at the thread here: http://www.mail-archive.com/amber-dev@incubator.apache.org/msg00426.html
It looks like a first release of Apache Amber may be soon.
Comment 8 Steffen Pingel CLA 2011-09-16 05:39:57 EDT
I'll move this to the commons project. Kevin, just ping me here if there any news or you would like to proceed with the contribution. I might have implemented something similar to support OpenID authentication in Gerrit: http://git.eclipse.org/c/mylyn/org.eclipse.mylyn.reviews.git/tree/gerrit/org.eclipse.mylyn.gerrit.ui/src/org/eclipse/mylyn/internal/gerrit/ui/GerritRepositoryLocationUi.java
Comment 9 Steffen Pingel CLA 2011-09-20 10:14:12 EDT
Another interesting project that offers authentication support for various social services is Spring Social: http://www.springsource.org/spring-social
