What download did you get for Helios? And what download did you get for Indigo? What were the names of these files? Did you install any additional plug-ins? Did you install those same plug-ins in both instances? (In reply to comment #1) > What download did you get for Helios? And what download did you get for Indigo? > What were the names of these files? > > Did you install any additional plug-ins? Did you install those same plug-ins in > both instances? Sorry, this comment should've gone in another bug, please ignore it. This is the Indigo file I installed from: eclipse-java-indigo-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar I am using Android ADT as a plugin, sorry I forgot to mention that. What debugging can I turn on (perhaps that will show why it wants to be grey? I don't think the file goes read only but simply the focus isn't returned to the editor. Can you "fix" the editor by switching to another tab and then back? Maybe even by clicking the tab or into the editor? Does it happen in all kinds of editors or a specific one? It happened in the text editor while editing xml files (text view), and java source code. I agree that it seems like a focus issue now. I can change tabs to other file, but they are also impossible to edit when this occurs. I really starting to think that switching workspaces (in Ubuntu) is causing it to appear more often. I can only "fix" it by opening a dialog (any will do). like preferences (with right-click). (In reply to comment #5) > It happened in the text editor while editing xml files (text view), and java > source code. So it did not happen in the text editor but in the XML editor's source tab, right? Can you reproduce on normal text (e.g. *.txt) files? > I agree that it seems like a focus issue now. I can change tabs > to other file, but they are also impossible to edit when this occurs. That is strange! Do you only see this problems on editors or also maybe on views? It also happens while editing .java files, so the text editor also does this. I can give txt files a try, I think i will reproduce. Wow, while typing this bug comment (using eclipse), I switched to another workspace, typed into a xterm, came back, and it reproduced in my Bug comment tab (i'm using some bugzilla connector that is integrated with Eclipse to type this)!. So, it is proven that it happens in any type of tab. I also switched to some xml and java files that were open, all of them are gray. The strange thing is, i can click around in Ecilpse, I just can't type during this state. I can even operate the "navigator", etc.. In order to figure out whether this is caused by standard Eclipse SDK or maybe some additional bundle, can you please try a build from http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.7-201106131736/index.php and see whether the problem happens there as well? Did you have a chance to test with the build mentioned in comment 8? I just figured out that my problem is likely Ubuntu. I just figured out that it is also happening with other applications (althought not as often). Check out this link, maybe this is it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/782565 Thanks for the info. |
