(I've already implemented most of this.)

The project properties for generator tabs are stored in the project's .settings file.  When a generator changes at the project, folder, or file level, the properties added for the previous generator(s) need to be removed.  When a compiler changes for a project, the properties added for the generators of the previous compiler need to be removed.  In general, if a generator tab adds a property, it should also remove it.
