Description Christof Luick CLA 2011-07-05 07:25:26 EDT
When I work with eclipse in a single-display-environment, I always have to change the sizes of views frequently depending on the view which I currently focus on. A typical workflow in eclipse looks like this:

1. Navigate to a file in the Package-Explorer (I have to increase the size of the Package explorer view first so that a larger part of the tree becomes visible)
2. Editing the source code of a file in the java code editor (I have to increasing the size of the code editor view first so that I could see a larger portion of the code)
3. Looking into the console view to check the debug output after the change (I first have to increase the size of the console view to see a larger portion of the output and revert the size change of the code editor window before in the same step)

Therefore it might be helpful if one could configure different sizes for active views, especially if one works with eclipse in a single-display-environment (e.g. a notebook). When activating a view by clicking on the header, the view should be resized automatically to the size configured for the active-state. When a view becomes deactivated the size should be restored back to the original size.

This feature would save me a lot of working time.

Kind regards,
Christof Luick (c.luick@gmail.com)

Chris, if you (or anybody else) is willing to provide a patch using 4.x UI model to implement this, it will certainly be met with interest from the UI team.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
