Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Edit code with auto-build on
2. While code is still not compilable 
3. Error message pops up.

Have you opened the erro log to see if there is an entry with a more complete stack trace? (Window>ShowView>ErrorLog)

On second thought, the exception is coming from Soot tool support.  I'd recommend that you raise a bug with the Soot team:
