Released version bundled with Eclipse 3.7 is also buggy. Same error in ver: Eclipse EGit 1.0.0.201106090707-r Yep, I was having same problem today and stumbled upon this bug. I use Fedora 15 x64. Same error with : Eclipse SDK Version: 3.7.0 Build id: I20110613-1736 Egit version Version 1.0.0.201106090707-r I also have this problem in a user-based (not system-based) install in Gentoo x64. Let me know how I can be of any help. Yeah, this doesn't work (didn't even know this exists :-) As a workaround you may click "Create a new Repository" on the Git Repositories view toolbar. *** Bug 350711 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Not having read the docs, I also intuitively looked for File > New > Other in order to connect to a git repo. I'm actually glad this didn't work, since what I really wanted was "clone a git repository" and not "create a new one". Opening the git Repositories Perspective is a workaround - the git Repositories view has the mentioned buttons. What is the plan for this bug? I just got hit with it again this morning.
