Description Pierre Gaufillet CLA 2011-06-16 04:32:30 EDT
Build Identifier: I20110603-0909

Eclipse definitely hangs very easily on Unix platforms. It happens on Linux and Mac OS X, in 32 and 64 bits. MDT Papyrus is therefore unusable on those platforms for now.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch to Papyrus perspective
2. Open a model on a class diagram

I suffer the same symptom on Windows XP platform. The eclipse instance running papyrus consumes nearly 50% of the processor capacity and does not respond to user interaction.

Logfile documenting the crash after working with the model explorer

Eclipse crashes a short period after opening the model explorer with an out of memory error: Java Heap Space
I saw an InvalidURLException in the log file.

my eclipse.ini reads as follows:
-startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.1.0.v20100507.jar
--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.1.1.R36x_v20100810
-product
org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
-Xms40m
-Xmx1024M
-XX:PermSize=1024M

Hope the log file helps to fix the issue.

Sorry for the late reaction.
I'm currently using Papyrus without problems on a Linux/x_64 machine. There were however SWT/unix related problems in the past, see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=38318
Could you please re-check, if the problems persist with Papyrus the Juno SR2 or Kepler build.
Comment 5 Pierre Gaufillet CLA 2013-03-18 12:16:44 EDT
Tested with Kepler 4.3M5a and Linux RHEL 5.4 64 bits.

No more crashes: I guess this ticket can be closed.

Note nevertheless that I face weird behaviors in this configuration: erratic model explorer (sometimes void, sometimes showing diagram artifacts), accelerators are missing but the "+" one, no Papyrus perspective.

I agree to close the error
