Did you see the NPE in the logs or did you get an error dialog?

Looking at the code, Xtext seems to try to extract the hover information for an EObject that is not in a resource (the EObject could not be a proxy or null as this is ruled out by prior checks and the whole thing happens in a read transaction). Are you creating any volatile EObjects during linking which are not in a resource?

if i remember correctly, the issue happened in the xtend2 editor.
