The mortbay GzipFilter is only used when the Http Status is between 200 and 399. If the status is set after writing the stream the GzipFilter will log an exception because it will have Gzipped the stream up until that point. In most cases this is harmless unless the stream has been flushed already. The better way to handle this is to setStatus "before" writing.
