Description Simon Kaegi CLA 2011-06-03 18:24:18 EDT
I'm trying the latest build out here - I20110603-1605 - and am finding the file access is absurdly slow and I time out frequently. What's unusual is if I set my target platform to the same build and run from my workspace it's fast.

I'll look into this more but am not sure what the difference is. The only difference should be that the client is minified but I'm seeing all the time being spent on the server so wonder if something is different in how we do our request??
Comment 1 John Arthorne CLA 2011-06-04 14:09:36 EDT
I don't think the server has really changed all week. Can you see in the network pane what requests are taking so long?
Comment 2 Simon Kaegi CLA 2011-06-04 14:41:55 EDT
http://localhost:8080/file/b/bundles/org.eclipse.orion.client.editor/?depth=1
Took 11.17s.

Also in my console I'm seeing 10 or so...

java.io.IOException: The handle is invalid
        at java.io.FileInputStream.close0(Native Method)
        at java.io.FileInputStream.close(Unknown Source)

I'm seeing 60-70ms for this kind of request.. Running latest on master on localhost.

I20110603-1605 is now running on orion.eclipse.org if you want to try it there.
Comment 5 Simon Kaegi CLA 2011-06-04 15:39:32 EDT
Marking invalid.
I added cygwin to my OS Path yesterday while doing local builds. For whatever reason things are very slow when it's on my path -- no idea why. I removed and it's back to fast again.
