Description Tobias Oberlies CLA 2011-06-03 08:02:30 EDT
When I choose "Switch to..." > "New Branch..." I would expect a similar functionality as "git checkout -b" in native git, i.e.
1) to be asked for the name of the new branch
2) optionally be able to specify the start-point of the new branch

However the "Create a local branch" dialog that is triggered by "New Branch..." puzzeled me. It requires me to specify point 2, when I was expecting to be able to type the name of the new branch somewhere. I found the filter field, but this only made things worse.

Knowing that writing an intuitive IU doesn't come for free, I am still wondering why you show the "Create a local branch" dialog at all. IMHO the the "Switch to"/"New Branch" action should directly jump to the "Create a new branch" dialog, with current HEAD pre-selected as source branch.
