Description Markus Knauer CLA 2011-06-03 05:25:35 EDT
Some EPP packages (CPP, LinuxTools, Modeling, Parallel, RCP/RAP) include EGit/JGit.

Unfortunately the artifacts are
* not available in the /releases/staging p2 repository right now (i.e. RC3) and
* will not be available from /releases/indigo in the correct RC3 version (i.e. the composite p2 repository at /releases/indigo will contain only old RC1 and RC2 versions as of today (RC3))

If someone wants to update any of the above EPP packages, the update will stop with the following error message

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=epp.package.rcp, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).

One possible workaround is: Wait... I am sure the EGit/JGit teams will fix this in time before Indigo RC4.
Another possible solution is to add/enable the Git p2 repository http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates-1.0 for the update process.

(Adding Matthias to this bug.)

The URL http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates-1.0 does not work either (now, at 2011-06-07)
Comment 3 Markus Knauer CLA 2011-06-07 14:28:21 EDT
Looks like the EGit team changed the repository URL again. According to the egit.b3aggrcon file it should be http://download.eclipse.org/egit/staging/ at the moment (but I can see a staging-2 on the file system...).

Anyway, the new EGit contribution should be available from /releases/staging right now (see also http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/cross-project-issues-dev/msg06131.html) and I would try this one first.

http://download.eclipse.org/egit/staging/ did work now.
Thanks for your help

No problem, that was an easy one.
Comment 6 Lorenzo Bettini CLA 2011-06-10 16:15:08 EDT
neither staging nor updates-1.0 seem to work today...

I didn't check, but things are a bit different than I expected them to be last week. One thing that I didn't pay attention to is that there won't be a RC4 release of the common repository in /releases/indigo. And you are right... updates-1.0 is empty.

My advice or workaround would be to add http://download.eclipse.org/releases/staging to your list of active p2 repositories *and* http://download.eclipse.org/technology/epp/packages/indigo/RC4.215 - this should allow you to update to something that is very close (or equal) to the Indigo release in one and a half weeks.

But be warned... I didn't try this yet... and there is no guarantee that RC4.215 survives the release day. These URLs will change until with the release.

Closing as fixed. Indigo is out... :)
