git fsck reveals nothing 'broken', but there are likely a few commits in your local repo that are missing from git.eclipse.org.

See bug 347707 for a similar issue. I'm asking them how they fixed theirs.
Comment 2 Boris Bokowski CLA 2011-05-31 10:53:47 EDT
Henrik, your repository appears to be in a broken state. For Orion, we were able to just push missing commits to the main repository, after Denis temporarily disabled the hook that ensures that you can only push commits that you made yourself.

In your case, it might be best to just clone your local replica of the repository back to git.eclipse.org. Alternatively, you could try to restore an older version from backup and then push recent commits (while the commit hook is disabled).

Thanks, Boris!

@Denis: do I have shell access to the server? How can I clone my local clone back to the server as Boris suggested?

I have an update on this.

I checked the problem with a new and very simple repository and could reproduce the same issue.
It turned out though that the issue seems to be with the https protocol. With ssh the push ran successfully.

When we started with git for eTrice at eclipse.org we had problems using ssh. So one of you enabled https for us.
Until the crash everything went fine.
Maybe the recent problems are also an issue with permissions and/or access rights?
--> you could check that

Now we will test whether ssh works for us. If this is the case no further action is required.

Where are we with this? Do you have a work around?

Hi Folks,

I experience the same problem, pushing to e4/org.eclipse.e4.search.git/

Regards, Dimitar
Comment 7 Denis Roy CLA 2011-08-19 11:15:09 EDT
This is a bit stale. Judging by the cgit page, looks like you folks can push.

http://git.eclipse.org/c/e4/org.eclipse.e4.search.git/

Please reopen if you're still experiencing problems.
