Currently, when using "import from repository" users can choose to pick the exact version tag, or "head", to import. Very handy.

It would help a little, though, if there was an additional choice that could be (optionally) shown to select "latest from branch". This would help while debugging maintenance releases, but, I noticed this most for bundles from Orbit ... where they are always from branches. So, if users selects a whole bunch of things to import from repository, and selects "head", then the Orbit bundles are usually just a readme file.

This might be more work than it'd be worth :) but wanted to capture the thought while I was having it. I know that "branch" is not currently captured in map files .... not sure how it'd work with GIT providers? ... but maybe some additional, explicit property in build.properties file, or similar, would help? Such as

additionalSCMInfo=

or something similar?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
