Greg, is this still happening? It seems like a mailman glitch that shouldn't occur. Nevermind, I've found the culprit... A mailman config file was not accessible by the web server.
dev1:/var/lib/mailman/lists # find . -name 'config.pck' -exec chown mailman.www {} \;
