As per the UI Review, 
Connection to an LDAP server suits fine to the use of the Mylyn Repositories view, 

this is the first step towards the integration of R4E functionality with Mylyn (besides Mylyn Versions)

the LDAP functionality may actually fit better inside the mylyn structure.

Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1].
