identify the annotations!

I20110512-2000 and default settings

Look at the attached screenshot (of the overview ruler) and try to identify the 4 annotations ;-)

There are too many annotations set to almost same shade of 'blue/gray' and 'mustard/yellow'. In every workspace I have to change the colors to make them useful. I also have Quick Diff enabled for Overview ruler which further exacerbates the problem. I would not mind slightly ugly colors if they are useful.

Marking as major as currently the color scheme is quite close to useless.

I strongly disagree with this statement.

It would help to provide the concrete conflicting colors rather than writing a general bug saying that the whole scheme is useless.

Sure.

The following are blue/gray
- Read occurrences
- Search result
- Quick diff - additions

The following are yellow/mustard
- warnings
- write occurrences

Among these changing the color of 'Quick diff - additions' is an absolute must for me, because while editing a file read occurrences and quick diff are bound to conflict and there can be a large number of these two annotations.

Color values corresponding to attached the screenshot.
1. Quick diff - 'Additions' (this is same as for 'Changes').
/instance/org.eclipse.ui.editors/additionIndicationColor=204,163,205
2. Search results - Yellow
/instance/org.eclipse.ui.editors/searchResultIndicationColor=255,255,0
/instance/org.eclipse.ui.editors/filteredSearchResultIndicationColor=255,255,0
3. Write occurence - Lime Green
/instance/org.eclipse.ui.editors/writeOccurrenceIndicationColor=0,255,0

Ouch! The green color hurts! ;-)
Comment 4 Dani Megert CLA 2011-05-16 11:13:25 EDT
We can take a look/discuss this during 3.8.
Comment 5 Deepak Azad CLA 2011-05-16 12:16:21 EDT
Just to add, the conflicts I mentioned are only for annotations that are visible in the overview ruler by default. There are other conflicts as well, among annotations which are not visible in the overview ruler by default e.g. Breakpoints (not visible in the overview ruler by default) and Tasks (visible by default) are almost the same shade of dark blue.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
