With trac connector this feature is not working, ticket is assigned to username/login and not to e-mail address and this ends with default icon. There should be an option to covert username to email or maybe some other configuration that will just connect this icon to local image (this will work, not everybody have gravatar account and usually You can get some images of other users and then have them displayed in mylyn). Thsi feature is great (displaying user icon). I think that it should be extended to other cases when connector is using logins or even when users don't have gravatar support but You want to statically assign image to person. Steffen: Shouldn't the primary UI For this be the comment stream, not the Outline view? Given our smart policy for which comments are unfolded, and what I think is spare horizontal space available, we could consider a larger left-aligned image for the commenter. Oh, my mistake, I thought this was about display of people, not identity management. The identity management thing seems a bit tricky since there are many identity management services out there, and it seems odd if we store state within the IDE. Schedule a design discussion for an upcoming call? Sure, I'll add it to the agenda. My sense is that we need to automate this as much as we can since any manual work is going to be very cumbersome. I haven't looked into any APIs but maybe we can leverage services such as ohloh that already have some of the identity mapping information. Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1]. We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start.
