The error
Resource '<closed project name>' is not open is logged from org.eclipse.m2e.logback.appender during updating the project configuration, independent of whose project configuration is updated. This error appears when some of the maven projects within the workspace are closed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Have a workspace with multiple maven projects. Close some of them. Right click on an open project and select "Maven->Update Project Configuration". In the dialog just select the one open project and click on OK. Have a look at the log. That message should not be logged at all or at least with a different level.
