To summarize the offline discussion, we see the following advantages:

@Inject SomeType as someName 

is in conflict with the syntax for cast expressions and not in line with other places in the grammar that define named identifiables, e.g. formal parameters don't use the 'as' keyword.

It seems to be unintuitive to infer names instead of types.

Tooling can help to find good variables names (e.g. via content assist).

People are used to the fact that identifiables have to be named.
