Description Nicolas Bros CLA 2011-05-03 04:42:16 EDT
I have this entry in my log (in workspace/.metadata/.log):

!ENTRY org.eclipse.pde.launching 4 13 2011-05-03 04:27:52.228
!MESSAGE The application could not start. Details can be found in the log.

It would be nice if PDE would precise which log it's refering to and where to find it. In my case, I have found that the log in question was in "workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.pde.core/AllTests/1304411271473.log"

Which build are you using? What action were you performing when you got this error?
Comment 2 Nicolas Bros CLA 2011-05-03 09:24:53 EDT
I am using a Buckminster headless install to build EMF Facet on hudson.eclipse.org. The message appeared to signal an error when launching the unit tests. There was a missing dependency for a test plug-in. But I could only discover this by digging through the workspace metadata. That's why I would have preferred if PDE build would directly point to the log in which the error is described.

The Buckminster install is using org.eclipse.pde.build_3.6.100.v20110310

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
