Refs change event may cause a stack overflow in EGit UI. I think the issue
is really with JGit, though http://egit.eclipse.org/r/#change,2188 could
possible make this less of a problem.

immediately before the stack overflow I hit MissingObjectException

git fsck didn't reveal any problems

change 2188 was merged as 654264e42049c7152959eb204d5a6fe7c42a0c70

let's see if this helps to avoid this problem in EGit
