Description Ian Bull CLA 2011-04-14 12:46:54 EDT
There are a number of Eclipse 3.x builds (such as the SDK, platform.ide, platform.sdk, etc...). However, in the 4.x stream we only have the SDK. It would be nice to produce some of the other builds, since the SDK is very heavy.

For tools like CDT, it's much nicer to use the platform.ide + CDT (instead of the full Eclipse SDK). By producing platform.ide builds, we can more easily encourage downstream consumers to try their products / plug-ins with Eclipse 4.x.
Comment 1 John Arthorne CLA 2011-04-14 16:27:47 EDT
Yes we discussed this at the previous e4 call and decided producing the platform runtime binary builds would be useful. We'll be unlikely to produce many of the other zips in 4.x stream since they are mostly deprecated in favour of a p2 repository.
Comment 2 Ian Bull CLA 2011-04-14 16:38:53 EDT
Sure, although we can still produce the products and just not the zips. That is, it would be nice to have many of the same product IUs (patform.ide, platform.sdk) in the repository.

Patch

Patch adds calls to generate the various IUs, but not creating zips for them.

Will not have time to test this today.

This patch was released in M7, the 4.1 repository now contains 4.1 versions of
org.eclipse.sdk.ide
org.eclipse.platform.ide
org.eclipse.platform.sdk
org.eclipse.rcp.id * there appears to be a typo in the rcp.product file
