Description Chris Goldthorpe CLA 2011-04-12 16:12:34 EDT
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #342326 +++

Bug 342326 is an enhancement request that had two parts, one related to intro and the other to the Installation details dialog. I have created this bug to cover the installation details side. Here's the original description with one note added.

Users should have the ability to easily see the set of licenses for the code contained in their Eclipse distribution. They do get to see licenses for things that they later add to Eclipse via p2.

The welcome screen seems like a good place to show this sort of information to the user. *** Note: this is outside the scope of this bug report.

A tab on the "Installation Details" dialog might be helpful as well.

There is already something in the features tab of the installation details dialog. Is that not enough?
IIRC, I think we need to be careful because the files shown by the license tab in the features are not the same than those in the p2 metadata. We went through this in the past when I wanted to have eveyrthing captured in the IUs but details are escaping me. Maybe things have changed as well from the legal team pov.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
