Help > Install New Software
Select update site: http://cbes.javaforge.com/update
Select the MercurialEclipse category.
Click Next
Get appropriate error message [1]
So uncheck the "Windows Binaries for Mericurial" component
Click Next, takes you to Install Details
Click Next, takes you to licenses
Click Accept.

The Finish and Next buttons are disabled. All that's available are Back and Cancel.

If I start from the beginning and only select MercurialEclipse without the Windows binaries to begin with, I can perform the installation.

1. Cannot complete the install because some dependencies are not satisfiable
com.intland.hgbinary.win32.feature.group [1.6.4.v201011161842] cannot be installed in this environment because its filter is not applicable.

Reproducible: Always

Matt could you please look into this? We should also try to backport to 3.7.1 if possible.

This happened to me today when attempting to upgrade from I20110915 to 20111011. I had the JDT and PDE feature patches for beta Java 7 support installed at the time. I uninstalled the feature patches and then I was able to proceed with the upgrade. I'm not sure if that is relevant or just a fluke.

Happens to me too installing another set of plugins. On install new software select some plugins -> next (here must be some problematic plugin) uncheck the problematic plugin -> next -> next -> accept the terms -> finish is still grey.
Comment 5 Nick Boldt CLA 2011-10-27 11:43:56 EDT
I've seen this before and the workaround is usually to back up to the feature selection page, uncheck the offending feature, and then proceed through validation and license acceptance again. If that doesn't work closing the whole Help > Install new dialog and starting it up again works.

Not sure what causes this, but it's trivial to work around it, FWIW. Pain in the ass and confusing to newbies, though. :)

We have seen this one as well, looks like the deselection of uninstallable content has an impact on the wizard's Finish button behavior, maybe the deselected IUs are still used for license calculation or some such?

Can this be fixed in 3.8, and maybe even 3.7.2?

Also, this bugzilla's platform "PC Mac OS X" is not correct as it's a generic issue, I just reproduced it on Windows 7...

Moving out. Matt, if you plan on looking at this you can put it on Kepler.

This bug is still present in Eclipse v4.2.1.

Was trying to install EGit plugin from http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates. This was also a case of a plugin where some of the items had to be de-selected due to missing dependencies.
Comment 10 adam martin CLA 2013-01-24 13:32:06 EST
Eclipse 4.2.1, OS X: this makes it impossible to install Subversive (which has a required stage of "install SVN connectors", where connectors are shown for ALL platforms, but on non-Windows platforms its not possible to install the windows binaries).

It appears that the presence of the license for the windows-only binaries is preventing the user from Finishing the process.

But only a windows-user can get that far - Eclipse correctly prevents OS X users from even attempting to install the windows-only binaries.

Have encountered this bug in Version: 4.2.2 Build id: M20130204-1200 running on
Windows 7 64.

Restarting the software install didn't remove the problem, but NOT deselecting software to install in 'Install Details' did.
Comment 12 Darcy Prather CLA 2013-03-27 17:27:02 EDT
I used David's technique of not "deselecting" and I was able to install Google's plugins.

Deselecting seems to be the key to triggering the problem.

Hi,

I had the same problem with EGit plugin and solved it by unchecking problematic plugin features, on the screen where you put the link for the software (1st installation screen). So then you doesn't have to uncheck plugins on the 2nd screen who seems to do problems.
Comment 15 Fedir RYKHTIK CLA 2013-10-16 06:25:36 EDT
2 Alessandro Silacci : Thanks.

Unselect of Egit Import Support on first screen helped.
