We've discussed moving to Maven Tycho as our build technology:

There were no objections and it simplifies a lot of things for us:

- it allows for local builds (this is the biggest advantage IMO)
- it allows easier integration with tools like FindBugs, etc.
- it brings us in line with a growing number of Eclipse projects

The Tycho changes have landed in master.  Locally the build works for me but on eclipse.org there appear to be a few issues.  I'm going to look at these and track them via bug #337509.
