Description John Arthorne CLA 2011-03-29 13:34:46 EDT
I am gathering input for another round of plan updates. This will likely be published in time for M7 to coincide with the feature freeze. If we can make a firm decision on committed vs. deferred for all plan items before that, we can push it out sooner. Some updates to be done:

- Replace RHEL 4 and 5 with RHEL 6
- Move HP-UX reference platform to java 6 (I think it was an oversight from the previous update that this is the only platform we left on Java 5)
- Run my tool to update EE per plugin in appendix
- Resource filter plan item is officially deferred

Would any statement on Java 7 belong in the Indigo plan, eg "will be released as an add-on between Indigo SR0 and Indigo SR1 pending Java 7 Platform availability"

Yes. The Java 7 item will be deferred, and we can add a comment there about the separate download and when it will be available.
Comment 3 Dani Megert CLA 2011-03-31 03:42:56 EDT
The Java 7 item needs to be moved to 'Deferred' as we won't ship it with 3.7.

Here's the text:
- Deferred
  - Due to late availability of JSR-292 (Invoke Dynamic) and JSR-334 (Project Coin) and due to the official release date (July 28, 2011) of Java 7 being after 3.7 ships we had to defer the Java 7 support to 3.7.1. It has not yet been decided whether this will be available as part of the 3.7.1 downloads or as separate feature update.

The work for the Java 7 features is currently in progress in the 'BETA_JAVA7' branch and we will deliver separate updates for the stable builds in order to provide early access to the Java 7 features for interested parties. [JDT Core, JDT UI] (288548)
