Description Carsten Reckord CLA 2011-03-28 14:20:39 EDT
The sites mentioned in http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/updates/ appear to be outdated compared to the archived sites available from http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/downloads/ . Apparently updates stopped appearing on the sites sometime before the 2.6.1 timeframe.

Although the features available on the Helios site are more up-to-date, they are incomplete compared to the archived sites. E.g. org.eclipse.emf.compare.team.subversive and org.eclipse.emf.compare.all are not included in Helios and are seriously outdated on the EMF sites.

And the 2.7 release does not appear to be available anywhere but the archived sites either.

Kenn,

The composite site should work for this I think, right?

updated site metadata

Yes, assuming they include the necessary entries. :P

Ed, this patch adds the necessary entries for the 2.7 stream.
Comment 3 Ed Merks CLA 2011-03-31 16:11:17 EDT
The changes are committed to CVS.
Comment 4 Ed Merks CLA 2011-05-10 11:57:52 EDT
The changes are available in EMF 2.7 M7 or an earlier build.
Comment 5 Carsten Reckord CLA 2011-06-10 06:56:37 EDT
Hi Kenn, Hi Ed,

Thanks for the fix. However, I seem to be too thick to find that composite site. None of the URLs from http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/updates/ seem to be it:

http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/updates/releases/
http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/updates/milestones/
http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/updates/interim/

Interestingly enough, according to Kenn's patch the composite sites seem to point at these URLs as the child sites for EMF Compare, e.g.:

5 <!--  EMF Compare -->
6 <child location='http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/updates/interim/'/>

Anyway, the attached patch contained all the specific URLs I needed for now :)

These were obsoleted (for EMF Core) as of the Helios release but still exist because some older installations reference them. There is now (as of Helios) a set of top-level composites for Modeling:

http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/updates/releases/
http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/updates/milestones/
http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/updates/interim/

EMF Compare is still publishing their builds as part of the (supposedly obsolete) EMF project composite site...
Comment 7 Cedric Brun CLA 2011-06-10 09:28:43 EDT
It was the case last year but it's no more the case. Thanks for resurecting this bug ;)

Please update the compare contribution with :

http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/compare/updates/releases/1.2
http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/compare/updates/milestones/1.2
http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/compare/updates/interim/1.2

We don't have a "non version specific" common repo yet but at some point we will...

Ah, great. Thanks. Maybe a pointer on the EMF web site might be a good idea though. Because I wouldn't have thought of checking on the modeling site instead (and Google points me straight to EMF for "emf update site").
