Bug 341092

Summary: Open XML Catalog prefs hangs when network is slow

Build Identifier: M20080911-1700

Having added several user defined entries for XML Schemas in the XML Catalog preferences page, opening the preferences page again when the network is slow or malfunctioning stalls the page, probably until all network related timeouts have passed.

It appears, the resolution of the URLs is done on the UI thread, which is not advisable. In my case it took about 45s to over a minute with only 6 or 7 custom schemas.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add User Specified Entries with remote XSD Location in the XML Catalog prefs.
2. Sabotage Network
3. Open Preferences again - XML Catalog page will stall, depending on network availability.

Daniel, can you retry this with Helios instead of Ganymede, and if it still happening capture a stack trace for us to look at during this hang? The information at http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/How_to_report_a_deadlock should be of use.

I did not have Helios here, but 3.7M6 (I20110310-1119) does not show the problem anymore. So apparently this has been fixed somewhere in between.

That's good to hear. I trust you'll reopen this if you run into it again.
