Description arne anka CLA 2011-03-22 09:19:35 EDT
Build Identifier: 20110301-1815

after a lot of operations in the lower right corner appears a progress bar symbol, i mostly notice it after svn activies (eg synchrionizing with svn).
in that case, hitting the symbol switches to the svn perspective.

that's a rather unexpected behaviour.

if one has necessarily to click the symbol to make it go away, i'd prefer to see the progress view activated.

at least the action upon clicking should be somehow configurable (rmc->context menu?).

Reproducible: Always

This is a feature not a bug :-(

When a job needs the attention of the users to display the result (like a SVN check out) this icon is shown. Clicking on it will execute an action (like opening the SVN console)

If feel that this icon is distractive, you can click the "Remove all finished operations" in the Progress View's toolbar. Does that work for you?

i come from svn perspective, i've done my commit -- and yet the icon is still there, though everything is done.
and btw: it does not open the svn console but the whole svn perspective!

i don't usually have the progress view open -- it would be yet another one w/o any real benefit.

i am not sure, inhowfar there's rather a bug with the icon still being visible although the operations it reports are already finished and the perspective associated with it (which clicking the icon opens _again_) has recently been closed -- just because the operation is finished and there's no need anymore to report anything.

i guess the icon should report only operations really in background and maybe clean up after a timeout.

No. Thats would violate the existing API contract.

Progress framework gives the ability to attach the actions to the job. What it does is out of the Progress framework and we can't really control it. Whether to attach an action on it or not is decided by the clients not the Progress framework.

If you feel that the action should only open the console rather than the perspective and should be visible only when you commit, etc, I suggest you raise the bug to Subclipse.
