Description
Wim Jongman
Wim, we've tried this 'experiment' a few times in the past, and it has always failed. Either the community not understanding why the mail and the news is the same, committers upset because they're seeing too much user chatter, or the seldom message from either nntp or mailman that didn't get propagated, which sends webmaster on a goose hunt. From here, if both newsgroup and mailing list are intended to be the same, I'd suggest that, along with your user community, you simply pick one and delete the other -- either a mailing list or a Forum. Hi Denis, I understand. We don't want to delete the group nor the list. Is it possible to get notified when a posting arrives in the group? Is there some event mechanism that we can hook into with our own e-mail? (In reply to comment #2) > Is it possible to get notified when a posting arrives in the group? The Forum software (which is linked to nntp) has email notifications -- simply log into the forums with your Bugzilla account, go to the forum you wish to monitor and hit the Subscribe link in the top left corner. Another alternative is to use the RDF feed from the forum. There is a feed link at the bottom of each forum's thread list. That will do just fine. Thanks for your help. |
