When I add a Trac repository, it always returns with HTTP error 404, with this message: No Trac repository found at url: HTTP Error 404

It took me some time to debug with Wireshark that Mylyn is always appending string "login/xmlrpc" to the end of the server URL. 

But if you visit this Trac XML-RPC address within your browser you got the following instruction: 
"Use http://xxxx.com/project/login/xmlrpc with basic authentication for user context."

Following this causes the error appear.

Please, check the end of the Server URL address field whether it already contains /login/xmlrpc and don't append that again.

If I understand correctly the URL entered for the repository contained /login/xmlrpc? Were you able to access the repository when you removed that portion from the URL?

Yes, you're right.
First, I entered the URL that already had contained the /login/xmlrpc part, and after I removed it, I could successfully authenticate (without any HTTP 404).

Thanks for clarifying. I agree that we could do a better job in detecting the proper URL. I have put this on the backlog and hopefully we'll be able to make some improvements on this in an upcoming release.
