There is a way to configure IE8 browser for this to disappear (it is a "compatibility" setting located under the "tools" option, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956197), but there does not appear to be a way to do this with Eclipse’s embedded/default browser.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the page in an external IE8 and Eclipse internal web-browsers - the same compatibility error message comes up in both applications.
2. Add the site to Compatibility View in IE8
3. An error message doesn't come up in IE8 anymore, but in eclipse it's still there.

MS Internet Explorer version: 8.0.7600.16385

Could you give more information about what page you are opening which causes the compatibility message to show?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the "stalebug" whiteboard tag.
