The process to add to the catalog is manual and is not really scaling.
We need to find a way to publish the catalog entries more easily and more automated

There were some improvements to m2e discovery catalog publishing and [1] and [2] explain how it works now. Eclipse Foundation wants m2e discovery catalog to be merged with "standard" eclipse marketplace (see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=346703#c12) so there no further work is planed here.
