Personally I prefer doing stuff with context menu / popups. However, in the "Git Repositories" view, adding, cloning, creating repositories is only available with the icons on top of the view.

Attached screenshot shows current context menu.

Not sure which version of Eclipse you are using, but I see this with Juno SR2. There has been some discussion of this problem in bug 397064.

I had this problem already with eclipse helios, but I agree, it looks exactly the same as bug 397064 .
