Description

This is the first time I hear about such a problem on windows 7. Could it also be caused by the existence of a proxy? I'm surprised by the absence of feedback, this probably means that some bytes are going across since we have time outs in place. Could you please check your network settings? Most of them run under Windows 7, two under Win XP. There is a WLAN the access point of which functioning also as a DSL router (Netgear). The WLAN is used by the work stations and gives them access to the servers and the internet. Win 7 machines and the servers have both IP V4 and IP V6 running, and there is no proxy. The machines are able to see each other on the whole network. There are to stand-alone work stations, one running Win 7, the other one Win XP. Generally, there are no known networking problems, e.g. Microsoft Update runs painlessly. When I’m starting Eclipse under Windows XP Mode on a Win 7 workstation or on a Win XP work station, Eclipse update works fine. By the way, all my machines get the latest updates and patches via Microsoft Update, so I think they are really up to date. The same holds for security software – I’m using Avira Premium Security Suite and, on two Workstations, Windows Defender. Eclipse on the non-domain Win 7 workstation exhibits the same problem as on a domain member. Websites - e.g. market place or documentation - are opened from inside Eclipse without any problem, regardless of the hosting operating system. It looks to me as if Eclipse update works with concurrent downloads. When I checked with Windows Resource Monitor, there were 43 – 45 threads active (on Win 7), and on Win XP, where update succeeds, I deduce this from interlacing download messages jumping repeatedly between recurring filenames in the detail Window.. Please tell me if you need more information. Kind regards, Goetz This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
