+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #320329 +++

I'd like to request backporting the fix for bug 320329 into the 3.6.x maintenance Stream (3.6.2+ target), such that we can adopt in in our commercial products on top of Eclipse.

Fix and test released in 3.6.x stream.

This change was released in R3_6_maintenance but never tagged and released. I have now tagged it so it will appear in future 3.6.2+ builds.
