I wrote some code to do this on my blog, http://aniefer.blogspot.com/2011/02/embedding-orion-editor_02.html

A comment there was:

The code you wrote should be part of Orion. And it should work off of class, not name, for the pre's. And it should somehow include the language to parse the code. And your code in the pre's shouldn't include br's - pre already handles that for you :-)

Last suggestion, make this work like GitHub gists's "embed" feature. I should be able to include one line in my blog post, which points to the thing I want to view in the Orion editor, and it just works.

Andrew, does this mean that generating something like http://download.eclipse.org/e4/orion/js/org.eclipse.orion.client.editor/orion-editor.js should be part of build process (at least for milestone) ?

I don't think much needs to be done here, an example snippet similar to the blog post could be posted on the wiki.

I do think that Felipe's suggestion in comment #1 makes a lot of sense.  That original orion-editor.js is now way out of date, the builds should probably produce a built/minified js file that can be consumed in this way.
