Description

We already have a similar mechanism which uses the NNTP newsgroup name: http://eclipse.org/forums/eclipse.technology.rap Great. I didn't know. Would it make sense to use these URLs as links on the overview page http://www.eclipse.org/forums/ ? It would. I'd have to hack into the Forum code some more. I've been tinkering with an upgrade to the forum. One of the templates supports friendly-er URLs, in the form of : Link to a forum: http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/f/89/ Link to a thread: http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/206617/ Link to a message: http://fud.eclipse.org/fud/index.php/mv/msg/206617/661389/#msg_661389 .. but when I opt to use that template, a host of other things cease to work, such as the collapsible "+" on the home page. I'll investigate further, but I can't make any promises. In addition to the eclipse-made shortcuts, with the upgraded forum the URLs are much easier. For instance, this is a link to the newcomers forum: http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/i/2/ It won't get any nicer than this. |
