Description Mark Macdonald CLA 2011-01-26 15:11:39 EST
Using Firefox 4.0b10:

1. Open coding.html on a Javascript file.
2. The editing caret does not appear in the text editor.

The symptoms here are the same as Bug 334587, but I opened this separately against [client] because the standalone editor at /editor/demo.html shows the cursor just fine. Something about the way coding.html embeds the editor is triggering the disappearing cursor in FF4.

If you type in the editor, what happens ? (i.e. is the editor getting focus?)

Yeah, I can type in the editor, and trigger actions like Toggle Comment. But the cursor is invisible, drag-to-select regions are incorrect, and Ctrl+C/V doesn't work.

This is the same issue as reported at Mozilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=639695

I released a temporary workaround for this problem. The workaround does not solve bug#334587.

I was able to reproduce this problem on Windows and Mac. They both work with the workaround.

Closing.

Just FYI, I've seen this problem twice on Firefox 3.6. Can't reproduce it yet however.

This is a bug in Gecko. I have a patch in this Mozilla bug which fixes the problem:

This bug is back in 3.6 (?)
it looks much worse as the selection has anchor suck at the end of file.
pushing a modification of the fix soon.
