The palette of a class diagram does not contains an entry for node creation, it is neither possible to customize the palette to add this option. This means that nodes can only be created via the "add child" option of the model explorer (as no deployment diagram exists).

Since the class diagram does not well support nodes (it only displays these as classifiers), it is probably better to wait for new the allocation diagram instead of adding this functionality.
