Description Matthew Piggott CLA 2011-01-25 15:54:32 EST
When adding a dependency or plugin using dialogs in the pom editor, if the user doesn't select a specific version we automatically use the highest version, in some cases this includes snapshot builds which may not be desirable.

Perhaps we need a preference to toggle snapshot builds?

not sure if a preference is desirable, noone will find it and noone will remember if they have it set or not in the given profile. IMHO we should decide and stick to it :)

please note that snapshots shall only appear for stuff somehow related. If I'm not mistaken. Like when you build stuff, snapshots appear in local repository (these you might want). Or from repositories that you ave defined (in which case you might also be interested in snapshots as these can be the snapshots from within your company.) or it's there because people at java.net are what they are and mix releases with snapshots. In this case you don't want it most probably ;)

I think we should select the latest release by default. This is how maven cli works for plugin versions, for example.
