Description Satyam Kandula CLA 2011-01-19 04:51:37 EST
There is a 5-10% performance regression in org.eclipse.pde.ui.tests.performance.parts.SchemaLoaderPerfTest#testSchemaAbbreviated() and org.eclipse.pde.ui.tests.performance.parts.SchemaTraversePerfTest#testSchemaTraverse().
The regression seem to have started from 6th January build.

I doubt very much that anything has changed in this area. The remaining PDE performance tests add little to no value.

In the late stages of 3.7 we should consider eliminating the tests entirely (or write new ones, but I expect that time will restrict us to the former option).

There is also a significant 20%+ degradation in plug-in.xml opening time. There are no code changes in PDE from that timeframe. Bumping to major, as this needs more investigation in the M6/M7 timeframe.

There hasn't been time to look at these performance issues in
M6. Moving to M7
Comment 4 Ankur Sharma CLA 2011-05-25 01:50:50 EDT
Though we are still pursuing it, there is not much hope for any breakthrough for 3.7
Comment 5 Curtis Windatt CLA 2012-01-23 14:39:20 EST
Closing as WONTFIX as there is no committer time to fully investigate. We have not made any significant changes to the schema editors in several releases.
