Description Marc Batchelor CLA 2011-01-11 17:42:50 EST
Build Identifier: 20100917-0705

Wanted to upgrade from Ganymede - so, downloaded Helios fresh. I only installed two plugins - subclipse and ivyde. Since I wanted to start fresh, I didn't even want to use any of my existing workspaces. So - I created brand new folders and checked out my projects into the brand-new workspace.

What I find is that the Navigator isn't displaying the problem (red-x) decorators on my Java projects - I have to switch to the Package Explorer to see the projects with build issues (unresolvable classpaths).

To troubleshoot, I tried the following:
a- I uninstalled ivyde and restarted. No difference - the build path issues were multiple, but only showing on the Package Explorer, not Navigator.

b- I turned off SVN decorations in case there was a conflict. No change.

c- I modified project build setting that specified to abort early if there was an issue - no change (except that it took longer to stop building).

d- Multiple attempts at refresh and clean - no change

e- Preferences->General->Appearance->Label Decorations- - All checked except Containers with Resource Filters.

Additional Information
Windows 7, 64 bit
File Installed: eclipse-java-helios-SR1-win32-x86_64.zip

I really can't upgrade without red-x support on the Navigator. If you want additional details, please contact me directly at mbatchelor at pentaho dot com

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download new Helios SR1
2. Unpack on Windows 7 64-bit
3. Run Eclipse
4. Create a new workspace location

5. Install all components of subclipse (http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.6.x) and restart

6. Install all components of IvyDE (http://www.apache.org/dist/ant/ivyde/updatesite) and restart

7. Check-out several projects from SVN that have Eclipse .project files and .classpath files that rely on IvyDE (likely unnecessary for duplication, but how I can duplicate)

8. Configure left-pane to include the Package Explorer and the Navigator

9. Display the Navigator - note the lack of Problem Decorators. Switch to the Package Explorer - observe that Problem Decorators adorn folders that cannot be resolved or built.

Note - no scrollbars - no long list of conflicting plugins. Just SubClipse and IvyDe (and Eclipse)

Error decorators don't show up in the 'Navigator' view and I'm pretty sure they never did. Anyway, cannot reproduce on 3.4.2 (Ganymede).

I mentioned Ganymede - I believe the version I was using prior was Galileo, not Ganymede. However, this used to work and now it's broken.

Sorry, still cannot reproduce.

No, this was never implemented in the Navigator. Maybe you used an additional plug-in that did that.
Comment 11 Dani Megert CLA 2011-01-12 02:18:51 EST
No plans to add this to the (outdated) Navigator. Either use the Package Explorer or Project Explorer.
