Please provide a stack trace. You should be able to see it in opening the "error log" view.

Sorry I need to make a correction, it's not a "NullPointerDereference" error, it's a "NullPointerException". I just tested a few more times and the error is reproducible by doing as mentioned in the bug title.

What kind of files are you editing? Does it happen for regular .txt files?

I'm editing .php files.

I just tested with plain .txt and .css files, neither of which prompted the error.

After testing the problem seems to be with .php files only.

This bug will also be happened when comparing with the file checked out from SVN repository.
We need another patch to fix it.
