Steps
- Open call hierarchy on a method 
- Call Hierarchy view > History > Clear History => the status bar still says displays the element name.

Fixed in HEAD in
org.eclipse.jdt.internal.ui.callhierarchy.CallHierarchyViewPart.java 
and also for Type Hierarchy in 
org.eclipse.jdt.internal.ui.typehierarchy.TypeHierarchyViewPart.java
