Created attachment 184498 [details] snippet To reproduce the problem using the snippet from the attachment do the following: 1. click on the Swing JButton 2. drag the tree scrollbar Notice that the progress bar no longer advances. The progress bar is updated using syncExec calls from a different thread. While dragging the scrollbar, syncExec is blocked. You can replace the Swing button with other components, like JSlider and you get the same result.
