I have reproduced this problem in my inner on Windows XP. Pass - I20101026-0203 Pass - I20101027-0214 Fail - I20101028-0304 Fail - I20101028-1046 Fail - I20101029-1118 Caused by changes to ContributedPartRenderer, v1.5 is the problem. Created attachment 184508 [details]
EPartService patch v1
Change the hide part code to activate another part before hiding the given part. This allows another part to take focus away from the breadcrumb. This of course doesn't work if you have no other parts open except one Java editor.

Olivier, with the work done on bug 331795 as well as remy's patch here I think that the regular manifestations of this defect will no longer occur. I'm going to leave this defect open though because we are still logging an error where we didn't before. Thanks again, this is *exactly* the type of defect that is really valuable; massively bad things happen because of a combination of the new code and existing code. We've likely saved ourselves some face here had any of the folks I'm begging to test their stuff come across this... This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it.
